Jean came for a visit to see both us and her sister outside of Orlando. We weren’t quite ready to show her all the good spots, so we “used” her by taking her around to learn about where the good spots are. Next time she comes we will know a lot more. It was a really nice kick-start for us to have her here: we looked UP and OUT and AROUND in a way we haven’t done since we had been here. We were so busy moving and buying and fixing and handling everything that we hadn’t enjoyed this place yet. We found so much beauty while she was here, and now we can see beyond our noses and into the wider world of this place.
We went to…
Beaches at Anastasia Island State Park, Fort Clinch State Park, Guana Reserve, and Mayport
Salt Springs for a quick peek before we had to leave because they wouldn’t take the dog
Jacksonville Arboretum
Fishing at the George Crady Fishing Bridge, Dutton Island, Rodman Dam, the Navy base, and other places along the road
Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens
Savannah, Georgia for Mother’s Day
Okefenokee Swamp boat tour and gator watching
Our neighborhood pool and art and cribbage and dinners at home
