Last food experiences, goodbyes to friends, last hikes, a sad farewell with Rosa, Paolo and the kids, the final move out of our house and into the Navy Lodge, and then onto the plane. It’s all a blur now, and I am positive there are a lot of special moments left un-photographed. It was one of those difficult times you wonder how you will ever get through, and then you look back and can’t remember what was so hard about it. But it was hard. And stressful. And sad. And also OK.
The trip to Florida was WAY harder than just about anything we have done. Multiple delayed flights, no support for rebooking flights, lots of waiting at airports, uncertainty about finding lodging, long flights, a very stressed out dog, tiny hotel rooms too small for us all, and days of only gas station food. But also extremely kind airport agents and USO volunteers who held us when we were the most tired. We finally made it, only to have more stress of getting our car, handing logistics, working on our house, etc. What a crazy time.
We will sure miss you, Italy. Hopefully we will see you again soon!
