We were so impressed by this country and this city.  Matt loved being inspired by all the renovated camper vans everywhere, and I loved fitting in with the way we look and the way we dress.  We all loved that we could speak English and understand what was happening around us.  We loved that there were so many countries represented, but just about everyone spoke English.  We loved the organized signs, roads, and driving, the cleanliness, and the fact that we could find free toilets and water.  We loved the way children behaved; parents were lovingly attentive and allowed their children both freedom and limits.  We appreciated the free parking in many places, and if not free, the clarity of how to park and pay for it.  The food was delicious, and we could EAT WHENEVER WE WANTED TO!!!!  Even at 5pm the restaurants were serving dinner!  The trails were well marked and outdoor recreation very accessible, the weather was cool, the water good to drink, the air fresh, and the rivers clear. The food and gas was cheaper, and things were organized in ways that made sense to us– like you can wash your own car, clean your own windshield, and pump your own gas there.  I really liked not being stared at as different, but fitting in with my skin and casual way of dressing.  The people were warm and friendly, and the city was hip, quiet, progressive, pleasant and laid back.  I fell in love with Slovenia.  The only sad thing was that we didn’t have enough time, and that I couldn’t see it in autumn when it is probably even more beautiful.  Seems like it could be a great place to live– the best of everything we love.
