The Boy Scouts went on their first campout since last year, and, since it was a white-water rafting trip in the mountains of Calabria (about 3 hours south), I joined them. It wasn’t exactly camping like I would prefer– all squished in together with a ton of teenaged boys, waking up at 6am, and with the lights on at night as well, thanks to this Italian campground– but it was still sleeping outdoors in a tent, under the stars, in a beautiful place. The rafting was amazing, and I am grateful for Scouts and for this experience. Looking back, I see we seemed to have forgotten about Covid on this trip, and I feel we are lucky to have stayed healthy.
