After we discovered Lago di Castel San Vincenzo during our Abruzzo vacation in July, we decided we really wanted to go back for a day trip.  So we did…twice this month.  It’s perfect for our family: It is quiet, private and beautiful, it offers warm, swimmable water and mud to play in, Matt could do his studying while the kids played together, the dog ran free, and hardly anyone was there.  The first visit we spent the whole day there, including dinner, and arrived home after dark.  The second visit was cut short with thunderstorms, but we stayed as long as we could while the thunder rolled around in the mountains surrounding us.  We look forward to our next visit!
