I left the kids at home one day and headed north about an hour for an eggplant cooking class, hosted by a military organization called Fleet and Family Services. They offer classes that introduce military to Italian culture. A group of us watched three old Italian Nonnas as they prepared eggplant dishes. They only let us help a little, then served us the dishes along with wine from their winery, bread, cheese, and more. They live in a beautiful place where they make olive oil and wine.
