Two different times we ventured into downtown Naples for some exploring. It’s crazy there, with tons of people crowding the streets. Castles, cathedrals, statues, plazas and amazing architecture intertwine with stacked apartments lining narrow alleyways. Laundry hangs from balconies, trash litters the ground, sellers push their wares, cars rush and pound their horns, and restaurants sell pizza/cafe/gelato/pastries (unless it’s afternoon resting time, when many shops close). We were serenaded several times with music, we went to an underground museum, we toured the Archaeological museum, we checked out a castle, we sampled the pizza/cafe/gelato/pastries, and we walked miles and miles on chaotic streets. We prefer rural to urban, but it was a lively, interesting, and wild experience.
